Paul Beban has been working on projects all over the world for more than 25 years.

He has been tear-gassed in Venezuela, gotten frostbite in Greenland, and gone undercover in illegal gold mine territory in South Africa - whatever it takes to get the story.

Paul's award-winning work ranges from live, breaking news coverage of conflict and natural disasters to long-form features, investigative documentaries, explanatory reports, and narrative podcasts known for immersive storytelling and emotional impact.

A veteran news correspondent and anchor who has also starred in multiple seasons of entertainment television. He leads and live interviews, panels, and events across business, politics, culture, and the arts.

Paul wrote and hosted the podcast Collapse: Disaster in Surfside, about the catastrophic failure of a condominium that killed 98 people in the middle of the night in June 2021.

 

Produced as a companion to the Pulitzer-winning coverage of The Miami Herald, the 12-episode series was called “haunting and evocative” in The New York Times, featured on NPR’s All Things Considered, and won a Gold Signal Award for Best Exclusive Content.

For more than 25 years, Paul has been following stories and bringing his audience along for the journey. He has chased pirates off the coast of Somalia, hunted UFOs in Patagonia, and interviewed the artist Christo about his plan to drape a Colorado river with miles of sky-blue tarps.

 

Paul’s work has been recognized with some of journalism’s highest awards. His 2010 undercover investigation into human trafficking in South Africa won the Emmy for Outstanding Feature in a News Magazine. In 2009, his report from India on the global economic impact of its surging middle class received the Emmy for Outstanding Analysis of a Business News Story. 

 

His reporting has received numerous National Headliner awards, and he was honored to be a member of the ABC News team recognized with DuPont and Peabody awards for its coverage of 9/11.
